Where the stories come from

The stories you're reading on our site come from ancient times. They have been brought to light in modern times, to myself and other students of Danville Karate International, by Sensei Ray Pruitt. Please read below what Sensei Pruitt has to say about the stories and their purpose.

We put the stories into pictures and share them on the web, so the wisdom and humor contained therein can spread even farther (also this way it's easier to remember them!).

I love these stories, as I say above, for their wisdom and humor. I wondered for a long time about what would be a good way to capture them on paper. Then I ran across some books by Tsai Chih Chung and Brian Bruya. These gentlemen did a masterful job of presenting Zen and Taoist stories in the comic strip format. They include the core wisdom, lots of humor, and a reverence for the traditions that created the stories in the first place.

So we springboarded off the fine work of Tsai and Bruya . Maybe I finally had a use for my own lifelong love of drawing. And of course today the web is the place for things.
